In Our Training Room:
All the above mandatory courses are run regularly in our own training room which is ideal when training is required for just one or two members of staff – see course dates. We charge £32 + vat for a half day course and £165 + vat for the full 4 day Care Certificate Course.

Tailored Training:
At your premises: We can also come to your place of work and provide any of the above courses for between 8 and 15 staff (depending on the course) for only £199 + vat for a half day course and £299 + vat for a full day plus 40p mile for the trainers travel.


The Care Certificate 4 full days (max 12 people)

The Care Certificate is an identified set of standards that health and social care workers adhere to in their daily working life. Designed with the non-regulated workforce in mind, the Care Certificate gives everyone the confidence that these workers have the same introductory skills, knowledge and behaviours to provide compassionate, safe and high quality care and support. It encourages workers to evaluate and improve their care skills and to build on continuing professional development.

The course is delivered over a four-day period and fully covers the fifteen induction standards as required by the CQC. It will equip workers with the basic skills they need and meets the CQC requirements. It also covers the core units for Health and Social Care Level 2 as well as some optional units within the award including Knowledge Evidence.

Moving and Handling People – 1/2 day (max. 10 people)

The aims of this course are to provide delegates with the knowledge and skills of correct moving and handling procedures, assessing risk and reducing this risk within their working environment. Knowledge is tested via a questionnaire at the end of the session.

This is run over one full day. The course looks at the following:

  • The Statistics surrounding people handling
  • The Legislation surrounding health and safety this also looks at the employee’s responsibilities in relation to health and safety in general. Legislation explored includes
  • The Moving & Handling Operations 1992
  • The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
  • The Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1998
  • The Human Rights Act 1998
  • The lifting Operations and Equipment Regulations 1998

A basic introduction to the anatomy of the spine and its components, we also look at how the body moves and protects itself in relation to body movement and joint function.

  • Explore bad posture and its consequences in adult life
  • Explore the principals of movement and biomechanics
  • An insight into unsafe lifting practises.
  • Practical sessions lasting 4hrs where the delegates use small handling aids and where appropriate hoists and other lifting aids/equipment.

Dementia Awareness – 1/2 day workshop

This dementia training course is aimed at all staff working in the care environment who works with older people with dementia. A general understanding of the issues associated with Dementia will be established. Attendees of this dementia course will gain under-pinning knowledge of the below issues and therefore will be able to put this into practice where necessary.

Dementia Care – full day course

This one day course follows on from the awareness workshop and provides a refresher as well as increasing their knowledge and skills. Participants will explore how a person may be affected physically by dementia and will challenge some preconceived ideas about dementia care, putting participants in the shoes of a person with dementia and asking them to take a fresh look at what they do.

  • What dementia is, common types and their causes
  • Approaches to enable people with dementia to experience well-being
  • Encouraging positive communication
  • Factors which can affect interactions with people with dementia
  • Understanding challenging behaviour

This course is recommended for all staff that is responsible for the direct care and support of people living with dementia.

Level 1 Food Safety – 1/2 day course

The Certificate in Food Hygiene Awareness is a basic qualification appropriate for anybody wishing to have an awareness of food hygiene. It has also been designed to help the food and catering industries to provide training to a safe level for those who perform “low risk” tasks such as clearing tables, maintaining stores, “meals on wheels” and other such similar duties. Course is delivered in 3 hours of guided learning.

Fire Safety – a half day awareness workshop (3 hours guided learning)

A one day course for managers which aims to improve the knowledge, skills and expertise of managers in respect of their recruitment, supervision and management of staff who work with adults who may be at risk from harm. This is an essential course for employers wishing to comply with The Health and Safety Act of 1994, The RCN Code of Practice 1996, The provision and use of work equipment regulations 1998 (PUWER), Lifting operations and lifting equipment regulations 1998 (LOLER).
